Appellate Practice
We have attorneys dedicated to drafting appellate briefs, preparing the Record on Appeal, and arguing before the appellate courts throughout the state. The attorneys communicate actively with pretrial and trial staff to avoid potential appellate issues.
All of our attorneys are aggressive in their pursuit of motions for summary judgment, as we make every effort to save our clients the time, expense and emotional commitment of a trial. In the unlikely event that a verdict is necessary, our appellate staff prepare and defend trial and post-trial motions to protect the advantageous nature of any verdict or ruling.
The fundamental philosophy of our appellate advocacy is meticulous review of the facts, an intimate familiarity with the relevant law, and critical analysis of the intersection between these sometimes competing subjects.
BGP has successfully argued appeals and dismissal motions in the state and federal courts throughout New York, including the Court of Appeals, the state’s highest court. We have also argued before all four Departments of the Appellate Division, the Supreme Court for numerous counties, the federal district courts, United States Court of Federal Claims, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
